Good Friends and Boppy Time

Over the 4th of July weekend our good friends (Brandi, Kevin, Sadie, and Sam) came to visit. We sure do miss hanging out with them since they moved. It was the first time they got to meet Riley and wouldn't you know...he cried a lot. Sorry, Brandi! I promise he's not usually like that. By the way, I swiped these pictures from Brandi's facebook page.

My First Bath

We gave Riley his first tub bath tonight. I have been giving him a daily sponge bath, but we decided to be brave and try the tub out. He hates being naked, having his diaper changed, and getting a sponge bath so I didn't have high hopes for our first bath. It was exciting to say the least. Riley didn't disappoint. He peed and pooped in the tub. Plus, he cried the whole time. I sure hope he enjoys his bath more as he gets older.

Robin and His Mini-Me

Since Robin already has his clone (Dawson), I think it's only fair that EVERYONE says Riley looks exactly like me. My mom gave me some of my newborn baby pictures and I cannot wait to scan them and show you me and my mini-me!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa (Robin's parents) came up to spend the week at their vacation cabin in the mountains. Since they were so close to us, we decided to go over and spend the day with them since Robin was off work on Monday. Did I mention that Robin had a 4 day weekend off for the holiday and I enjoyed every single second of being with him? It is SO much easier to parent when he's here, supporting me. Here are some of the fun things we did on our day with grandma and grandpa.

One Month Stats

Riley had his one month check-up today and here are his stats:

Weight - 9 pounds 4 oz - 34th percentile
Height - 22.5 inches - 71st percentile

So it looks like we have a tall, skinny boy on our hands! Also, the pediatrician suggested that we see a speech therapist for Riley because of the weak suck issue. Lately he has begun to fuss terribly with the bottle. He doesn't do this at the breast so I'm thinking he has a problem with the bottle nipple. I hope the speech therapist can give us some ideas because I have tried every nipple out there!

One Month

One month ago today I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy. I became a mother. On one hand, I cannot believe that he is a month old already. On the other hand, I cannot believe that he is only a month old. It feels like he has been with me forever. Someone once said "Children are your heart walking around outside of your body." So very true. I never realized how much I could love someone until I had him. Here are some things I want to remember about Riley being one month old.

1. You love to be cuddled, snuggled, and held close. You cry whenever I put you down and secretly I love the fact that I'm the only one who can comfort you.




2. You love to eat. It doesn't matter if it's from the bottle or breast, you're very much in love with eating.




3. Your hair is a reddish, brown, almost coppery orange color. I have no idea where you get that from.




4. Youe eyes are dark blue. I'm secretly hoping they change to green like your daddy's or hazel green like mine.




5. You won't sleep unless you're right beside me, all snuggled up.




6. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and cannot fit into your newborn clothes anymore.




7. You are wearing size 1 diapers.




8. You nap like a champ in your car seat, especially when you're sitting in restaurants.




9. You have a love/hate relationship with your pacifier. Rarely will you take it, but when you do, you love it.




10. I love your little toes.




11. I love how when I hold you and feed you, you get so peaceful and content that you will fall asleep, mouth wide open, milk dripping out, and smile your toothless grin at me.

I love the fact that Robin is as in love with Riley as I am. He loves to count his toes and play with his hair. Man, I'm in love with these two guys!
